Launch is seeking a proactive and solutions-oriented Facilities & Operational Support Specialist to lead the upkeep, cleanliness, and readiness of Launch High School. This role will handle daily cleaning and facilities maintenance, while also supporting food service operations, event setup, and school-wide logistics. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and ready to serve wherever needed to keep the building safe, functional, and student-ready every day.

Compensation & Hourly Rate: $20 - $30
Launch compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience, along with a full benefits package. Description Overview:
The Facilities & Operational Support Aide is responsible for keeping the school clean, operational, and welcoming. This role extends beyond routine cleaning to support food service operations, facilities troubleshooting, student safety, and emergency coverage. The aide will collaborate closely with the Operations Manager and School Guard to ensure a high-functioning environment that meets Launch’s culture of excellence.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Prior custodial or school maintenance experience in a fast-paced or school-based environment
- Deep understanding of cleanliness standards and ability to take ownership of building upkeep and light repair needs
- Flexibility to support operations including kitchen/food services, school event setups, or security coverage in the absence of the guard
- Strong communication, reliability, and problem-solving skills to maintain a safe and welcoming school environment
- Capacity to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff while upholding Launch’s community values
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds
- Compliance Requirements: DOE fingerprinting clearance, Food Handlers Certification (preferred), FDNY fire safety certificate, and crisis/emergency readiness training (preferred)

- Building Cleanliness & Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and shared spaces.
- Facilities Checks & Repairs: Conduct daily walkthroughs and flag any repair needs to the Director of Operations; perform light maintenance tasks as needed.
- Inventory & Supplies: Track, restock, and organize building and cleaning supplies; manage shared operations closets.
- Kitchen & Food Support: Assist with SchoolFood/kitchen operations, including meal setup, distribution, and cleanup.
- Event & Trip Support: Set up and break down equipment for school events and serve as support staff during field trips.
- Security Coverage: Step in as a security point person when the Security Guard is unavailable.
- Emergency & Health Protocols: Support with emergency preparedness efforts and maintain compliance with health and safety standards.
Daily Maintenance & Cleanliness
- Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, bathrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
- Replenish bathroom and classroom supplies (toilet paper, hand soap, sanitizer, etc.).
- Ensure trash removal, floor cleaning, and surface disinfecting are completed throughout the day.
- Conduct classroom beautification and deep cleaning projects regularly.
- Set up rooms for events and ensure post-event cleanup.
- Monitor and address minor maintenance issues (changing light bulbs, fixing loose furniture, etc.).
- Report larger building issues to Facilities or custodial team.
- Conduct walkthroughs of the building for safety, cleanliness, and supply needs.
- Track inventory of custodial and school supplies; report reordering needs.
- Serve as back-up for the Security Guard when needed.
- Assist in SchoolFoods operations during lunch periods.
- Ride buses with students when assigned or support field trips and events.
- Support during fire drills, evacuations, and lockdowns.
Requirements for Role (must be obtained within 30 days of hire) - Launch will support individuals with obtaining certifications and resources upon hire if applicable.
- DOE Fingerprinting: Required for school access and working in direct contact with students
- NYS Security Guard License: Required for performing school security responsibilities
- FDNY Fire Guard Certification (F-01 or F-03): Required to support building safety procedures and manage fire drills
- Food Handler’s Certificate (DOHMH): Required for assisting with SchoolFood and kitchen operations
- CPR/First Aid Certification: Required to provide emergency health support and response
- Crisis Intervention/De-escalation Training: Required to support students experiencing emotional or behavioral distress
